About Botobolar

Botobolar's 22-hectare vineyard established in 1971 is Australia's oldest certified organic vineyard, the vines have always been grown organically without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers.

Growing grape vines organically in balance with the environment, not demanding too much from them or the soil, hand picking and pruning, and creating handmade wines all combine to deliver to you, good value premium organic wines.

Botobolar's organic dryland vineyard is famous for its rich and spicy Shiraz, chocolate and mint Cabernet Sauvignon, Busby clone Chardonnay, and Marsanne varieties. This bit of earth delivers some of the best grapes in the district.

Botobolar is also known for its Preservative Free and Low Preservative Wines. Again a pioneer in this field we are the original creator of organic preservative free wine and have been producing it since 1984....'the original..'.

Wines

Botobolar The King Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz

50/50 Cabernet and Shiraz sourced from Broombee (Mudgee) and Rosnay (Canowindra) Organic vineyards

Colour: Dark red/purple

Nose: Dried rose petals and spice

Palate: Sweet berry fruit with hints of anise and cinnamon, full rounded mouth feel and a lasting finish. Can be decanted and enjoyed with "Mudgee Slow Cooked Warm Lamb Salad" (See Bugle in News for Recipe)

Analysis: alc/vol:14%

Sulphur Dioxide: 118 ppm

Botobolar KK's Choice Shiraz

Colour: Deep purplish red

Nose: Spicy with hints of perfume and cedar

Palate: Big juicy flavours with a nice acid balance. rounded tannins, and a long lingering finish, a big and complex yet elegant wine. It will benefit from from cellaring, but can be decanted and enjoyed with a summer steak or cheese platter.

Botobolar Preservative Free Shiraz

Sourced from Botobolar and Mt Frome Bio-Dynamic Vineyards

Colour: Iridescent purple red

Nose: Cinnamon and clover perfume, with rose petals and berries.

Palate: A spicy refreshing wine, with soft tannins and a good acid balance and great berry flavours. Like the 2010 it is styled in the manner of a Rhone Valley Shiraz! Some Botobolar Marsanne has been added to give the wine a lifted fruit character. It can be enjoyed chilled, and we encourage you to drink this wine with your favourite savoury meal.

Botobolar Rain Goddess

Colour: Deep brick red

Nose: Spicy cedar and cinnamon

Palate: Rich fruit flavours including ripe berries and prunes with spice overtones. Soft rounded tannins with a long subtle finish make the very gluggable now. For divine pleasures enjoy with your next family meal. No need to cellar, enjoy in moderation!
